Located in the bustling heart of central Athens, this dental clinic was designed to completely redefine the traditional patient experience. Moving away from the cold, sterile environments typically associated with medical spaces, our design vision was to create an urban sanctuary—a warm, inviting, and inherently calming environment that alleviates patient anxiety the moment they step through the door.
The interior palette is grounded in earthy, soothing tones. We utilized a rich combination of natural textures, notably travertine-inspired wall treatments and warm oak flooring, to establish a grounded, spa-like atmosphere. In the waiting and reception area, bespoke built-in seating featuring soft, minimalist cylindrical cushions floats above floor-level indirect lighting. The firm’s welcoming ethos is materialized in the elegant, copper-toned “we love your smile” typography that serves as a focal point against the textured stone backdrop.
A defining architectural feature of the clinic is the striking partition wall characterized by a large, sweeping circular cutout. This geometric intervention acts as a visual filter between the public waiting lounge and the private treatment corridors. It establishes a sense of depth, allows light to permeate through the core of the floorplan, and introduces a softness that breaks up the rigid lines of the existing shell. This interplay of curves is further complemented by fluted wooden paneling at the end of the corridor, adding vertical rhythm and acoustic comfort.
Understanding that lighting deeply impacts psychological comfort, we implemented a sophisticated, multi-layered lighting strategy. Instead of harsh overhead fluorescents, the space relies on soft, indirect LED coves, concealed strip lighting beneath the furniture, and striking spherical sconces. This creates a gentle, ambient glow that guides patients through the space while maintaining a serene mood.
The transition into the treatment rooms maintains the clinic’s elegant design language while meeting the strict hygienic and functional demands of modern dentistry. Custom, streamlined cabinetry keeps clinical equipment neatly concealed. In one treatment room, a dark, richly veined textured wall covering provides a striking juxtaposition to the minimalist white surfaces, while halo-lit circular mirrors echo the geometric motifs found in the reception area. The result is a highly efficient workspace for the dental practitioners that feels distinctly premium and exceptionally comforting for the patient.
